Honoring the Founders of Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation
Dr. and Mrs. Rodney Fitzgerald and Donald M. Lorton were honored in 2018 by BCPEF’s Executive Committee having been instrumental in founding the Public Education Foundation for Cleveland City and Bradley County Schools.
Mrs. Margo Fitzgerald established and served as the first Director of the Cleveland Education Foundation. With a vision to bring together the education foundations for the two local school systems, Dr. Rodney Fitzgerald encouraged the formation of BCPEF in 2003 and served as its first President.
Their dynamic leadership on the Executive Committee have guided the Foundation in its focus on academic innovation and professional excellence in the classroom. Their generous financial gifts have reinforced their commitment to education at is finest. They have designated a Legacy Society gift in their estate securing the future of the Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation.
Mr. Donald M. Lorton, a champion of public education, has worked tirelessly to promote the interests of Bradley County and Cleveland City Schools. He provided visionary leadership and guidance in establishing BCPEF where he has served with wisdom, integrity, and great distinction as a member of the Executive Committee from its inception in 2003.
Donald and Lila Lorton, with generosity and faithfulness, financially supported the mission and goals of the Foundation, reaching the Magna Cum Laude Level of Legacy Giving. They have designated a Legacy Society gift in their estate securing the future of the Bradley Cleveland Public Education Foundation.
Dr. Fitzgerald and Mr. Lorton were named Emeritus members of the Executive Committee in 2016.
